Adolescent & Family Therapist

Therapists provide individual, family and group therapy in a milieu setting for a caseload of approximately 7 students. Therapists utilize a number of approaches in working with youth and families, including collaborative problem solving, attachment theory, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, etc. Therapists are expected to root their practice in NLA’s relational model and apply this to the team-based model of care that NLA practices. The therapist position requires high levels of organization, flexibility, leadership, and collaboration.

Position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Sundays- Thursdays. Hours vary but are primarily afternoons and evenings. Salary commensurate on experience and includes benefits package.

Candidate Preferred:

  • Licensed LPC, LCSW or LMFT
  • Experience working in a residential facility
  • Experience with case management duties of a milieu-based program
  • Experience with children who have social deficits, especially with Social Thinking Curriculum
  • Experience running and facilitating youth and family retreats
  • Certifications in various therapeutic modalities
  • CPR and First Aid Certified

 Candidate Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field
  • Ability to work as a team member within a complex program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented and strong commitment to follow through on tasks
  • Ability to build rapport with youth and families and conduct therapy while supporting complex family systems
  • A trauma informed approach
  • Develop, implement and update treatment plans in a timely fashion

  • Availability to participate in a week long on-call rotation every 4-5 weeks
  • Ability to be flexible and take occasional overnight trips



Seeking a Humanities teacher to instruct a modified, self-contained class of 5th-8th graders. Focus on integrating content and supporting emotional regulation with our younger students.

New Leaf Academy provides teachers with a small, collaborative, supportive teaching environment in which to express one’s creativity and interests. The school has a population of between 25 and 30 students and employs an Academic Director, 4 full-time teachers, a part-time Special Education teacher and an Educational Assistant. Class size generally ranges from 8-12 students. If you like to work in a collaborative, team environment this is an ideal position.

Candidate will need to provide feedback to students through timely grading of assignments, provide pertinent information regarding student progress, behavior and performance and manage student behavior in the classroom to ensure a safe environment conducive to learning.

Positions are full-time, year-round, Monday-Friday and available to start immediately for our summer term. Salary commensurate on experience and includes benefits package.

Required Skills:

  • Valid teaching license with a science endorsement OR upper elementary/middle school humanities, social studies or language arts endorsements
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities include:


  • Preparation and serving of nutritious, homemade meals and snacks for up to 30 people, accounting for a variety of dietary needs at each meal
  • Keeping all areas of the kitchen and dining hall clean
  • Ensure that all food preparation, storage and cleaning practices follow health department regulations
  • Supervise and support students while they are helping in the kitchen and ensure student safety
  • Develop and maintain positive, healthy relationships with students


  • Current Oregon Food Handlers Card
  • Ability to pass background check
  • Experience preparing and cooking high quality, healthy food
  • Experience working in residential setting or cooking for 20+ people preferred
  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Ability to supervise youth and hold appropriate boundaries

Position is part-time, approximately 27.5 hours/week, Tuesdays-Saturdays. Shifts are a combination of morning or evening shifts.

Residential Counselor (Houseparent)

Responsibilities include:

  • Overall supervision, care and guidance of the students in the home. 
  • Maintain a high level of safety while facilitating activities and tasks throughout the daily schedule.  
  • Guide students through their daily living routines while helping them to develop self-care skills.  
  • Build appropriate relationships with youth while maintaining healthy boundaries and implementing program rules and policies.
  • Overnight awake shifts (if applicable) include light cleaning and office duties in addition to student supervision.


  • Candidate must have experience working with youth.
  • Experience working with youth with emotional and behavioral issues or challenges preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to be a team player are required.  
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • First Aid/CPR certified (or ability to get certified) 


*Opportunity to pick up additional shifts on a regular basis. 

Hourly wage starts at $16/hour for daytime positions, $16.25/hour for overnight position. Opportunity for $0.75/hour hourly wage increase within 8-12 months of employment with development and training. Full-time positions include insurance and Paid time off benefits. 


Part-time Schedule:

Mondays-Fridays 5:45-8:45am

Wednesdays 9:45am-12pm (weekly meetings)

Hours/week: 18.5


Full-time Schedules:

$750 bonus after 6 months of employment in overnight position.

Saturdays 10am - 10pm

Hours/week: 33.25
